Sandbars

They are island or peninsulas, whose width goes from some dozens to some hundreds of meters; sometimes, they stretch out for kilometers. They are formed by the sand brought to the sea by the rivers, and shaped by wind and waves. They protect the lagoons from the strength of the sea, giving them the possibility to survive, and are very charming: on the side facing the sea they are waveswept beaches; the inner side is covered with halophilic vegetation enduring brackish waters and with canebrakes plunging into the lagoon. Some of these sandbars, the biggest ones, are beaches equipped for bathing (Rosolina Mare, Boccasette, and Barricata).
