At a few kilometers from Porto Viro, in the heart of Parco del Delta del Po, there is the town of Ca' Cappellino. Since 1998, in the former elementary school of the town, the beekeepers of the Delta in collaboration with the municipal administration of Porto Viro, have created an APICULTURE CENTER.
Within it you can visit an exhibit-museum leading the visitor to discover the life of bees in its several and fascinating aspects and its precious products: honey, propolis, pollen, royal jelly, and beeswax.
Groups of students can carry out experiences in the didactic lab with observations at the microscope, video projections, beeswax processing, and direct observation of the bees in the annexed apiary.
The honey extraction hall (a premise which is hygienically suitable for the honey extraction and ripening, and for the process of putting the honey in a vase) and the present sale points have enabled to join under the same trademark the honey produced in the park, that is "MIELE DEL PARCO DEL DELTA DEL PO".
The hygienic procedures and production rules the associated beekeepers must respect enable to offer the consumer the guarantee to purchase a genuine, pure, and integral product.
Besides giving information on apiculture and selling the products of the beehive, the center also offers professional and technical assistance to the local beekeepers and to other people who want to engage in this activity. |
