You can visit on foot some wonderful protected areas and you will have the opportunity to observe the natural sequence of the Delta environments.

In Caleri [2] there are the Coastal Botanic Gardens where you can observe the evolution of the environment among sea, dunes, and lagoon.

In Ca' Pisani [4] you will observe the evolution of the environment between the lagoon and the river.

In Ca' Zen [3] a small flood plain houses a heronry.

In Panarella [3] there is a river sanctuary of 25 hectares with educational trails, managed by WWF.

Po di Goro [3]-[4]-[6] is the most ancient branch among the active ones and, going along it, you can appreciate an almost "natural" river, since man has not artificially forced its course.

Fossil dune bars [1]-[2]-[3], which can be explored on foot along ancient ways which were already used by the Romans and in the Middle Ages, stretch our parallel to the road SS Romea. Eight of them date back to different periods, from Prehistory to the Renaissance. Dunes can be found behind Porto Viro, Rosolina, and Ariano nel Polesine.

Scano Boa [5] is a "symbolic" place of the Po Delta, and you can reach it only by boat. You can see the fishermen's old houses, entirely built with Common Reeds.

Batteria Island [5] is a nature reserve of the Region and you can reach it only by boat. It lies in the mouth of the main branch of the river Po and is characterized by the presence of houses which have been abandoned by the farmers. It is an interesting evidence of the consequences of subsidence.
