The Po Delta now - Winter
Sighting
Snow in winter in the Po Delta is an uncommon event, the temperature usually remains slightly above zero. Much more usualare the foggy, humid days. The morningfrost on cold crystal sunny days is surely a picturesque aspect over this period in the Po Delta. The river banks, the flood plain and the poplar wood around the river become an incomparable environment.
Despite the cold climate, winter is a good period for sighting Po Delta Park birds. In the wetlands, in the channels;herons, egrets and grey herons. In the lagoon next to the sea; cormorants and ducks, mallards, coots, teals to name a few.But it is also the time for birds of prey such as hawks, buzzards and kestrels that areeasy to see in the countryside completely unmovingin the air during their flight in the typical posture of the “holy spirit”. On good days, my advice is toput on a parka, pick up a pair of binoculars and a camera, and go to the lagoons and the valleys of “Boccasette”, “Ca’ Venier” and in” the Loop of Scardovari”, and you'll definitely come across in interesting sight.
