The Park Authority
The Regional Law with which Parco Regionale Veneto del Delta del Po has been officially established aims, among the other things, at promoting and enhancing the Po Delta also by using multimedia instruments.
This website aims at contributing to a clear and informed approach to the territory, its nature, history, activities and the people living in it, providing useful data and news in an easy and personalized manner to everyone who require them for tourist, operative, or research reasons, or just because they are curious.
Parco regionale Delta del Po was established on 8th September 1997 with the regional law no. 36.
The Park management is entrusted to a public law body with legal status, established with the above-mentioned law and called Ente Parco Delta del Po.
The Park was born with three main aims:
1. Safeguarding, recovering, enhancing, and conserving the natural, historical, and cultural features of the Po Delta territory;
2. Promoting the economic activities of the area, provided they are compatible with the surrounding environment;
3. Contributing to improve the life quality of the local communities.
Environment, economy, and society are therefore the three foundations on which the activity of Ente Parco Veneto del Delta del Po is based.
The Park covers an area involving the Municipalities of Adria, Ariano
nel Polesine, Corbola, Loreo, Papozze, Porto
Viro, Porto Tolle, Rosolina, Taglio
di Po.
The Law n. 36/97, drew up according to what established by the international agreements and conventions regarding the management of wetlands - in particular MedWet, a Community program for the protection of the Mediterranean wetlands highlights a feature of the Delta which has always had a great importance in its history: the interaction between man and environment. As a matter of fact, the "natural, environmental, historical, and cultural values present in the Po Delta area" are defined resources able to support the economic, social, and cultural development of the local Communities".
The Po Delta Area Plan approved in 1994 by the Regional Council represents a reference for the elaboration of the Park Plan; the latter is under study and should not set further restrictions regarding landscape and environmental safeguard. The areas outside the perimeter considered by the Park Plan and involved in the Po Delta Area Plan are exclusively interested by the provisions of the Area Plan.
The Plan will fix the perimeter of the Park area, the territory zoning (ex: archaeological areas, areas for infrastructures, conservation, restoration, and recovery areas, etc.), the choice of the projects to carry out in the territory, the safeguard and recovery of the water systems, and further activities linked to the respect and safeguard of the environment.
The Social and Economic Long-term Plan aims first of all at elaborating the Park Plan; secondly, it aims at the social and economic promotion of the Delta Community, enhancing the typical activities and economic potentialities of the territory. It includes measures in the fields of industry and craftsmanship, agriculture, fish farming, mollusk farming, and professional fishing in general, the vivification of the lagoons, the defense from fires, the hydrogeological defense of the soil, the safeguard of the faunistic balance and repopulation, of holiday farming and tourist activities; measures supporting activities linked to experimentation, promotion, and transformation of the agricultural and fish farming production; cultural and educational, recreational and tourist, structural and infrastructural measures to develop the social and public exploitation of the Park.
